Dora Montefiore (1851-1933) is remembered for devising the ‘Kiddies Scheme’ during the 1913 lockout, whereby children of locked-out Dublin workers were to be hosted by sympathisers in England, reducing pressure on their families. Catholic opposition largely thwarted Montefiore’s efforts & led to her arrest on a kidnapping charge. Montefiore, a notable suffrage & socialist activist in Britain & Australia, wrote an autobiography, now available online at Marxist Internet Archive.
